Catalonia Princesa
The hotel is located between the Arc de Triomf (underground station) and Ciutadella Park, within easy walking distance of Plaza Catalunya and the Gothic quarter. Not too far from Las Ramblas.

Catalonia Princesa
The Catalonia Princesa is housed in a 4-storey sandstone terraced building situated in Barcelona's Gothic quarter. The medium sized marble lobby is bright and welcoming, with lots of natural light. Also medium sized, the 90 guestrooms have contemporary decor with striped fabrics and dark wood furniture. They are clean and well maintained, as are the marble en suite bathrooms. The "Princesa Restaurant" serves a selection of Spanish and Mediterranean dishes in an airy, light-toned dining room and has a small patio for outdoor dining. And at the Café Bar guests can enjoy a cappuccino, snack, or a pre-dinner drink in an informal setting.

Hotel was a three minute walk from busier areas (and 10 minutes from Placa Catalonia), but with local cafe/restaurants on the doorstep for those that are willing to try their Spanish. Our room was on the small side, but clean and tidy every day and breakfast was unusually generous and varied. The TV in the lounge was showing sport most of the time - with the listings posted in the lift, but not too many seats (better to go out anyway). The staff were helpful and recommended a few places and activities, (but only if you ask them). With the price being pretty reasonable too, I'd recommend this hotel to anyone that doesn't want to be in the thick of it all the time, but close enough to be in the Ramblas with a ten minute walk.
Top Tip
If flying in to the international airport - take the aerobus to the centre, or the train if you are staying nearer Barceloneta/olympic village. Use the metro to speed around town, or if you're in no hurry buy a ticket for the Bus Turistico - if you pick up a map in the hotel and plan your route before boarding then that will help as it is very busy.
A safe place (price, food, location, language) to eat in Princesa is the 23 bar (Carrer del Portal Nou).
Go and see an Espanyol game at the Olympic stadium, rather than Barca. The Camp Nou tour is okay, but there are two 1st division teams in town and Espanyol are located right next to the art gallery and a couple of panoramic views of the whole city.
